NEW YORK (AP) — Sometimes it’s easy to forget Madonna is also a songwriter. The Songwriters Hall of Fame hasn’t forgotten.

She’s on the short list of nominees for induction into the hall next year.

So are Cyndi Lauper, Sade, John Mellencamp and Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page and Robert Plant.

Other nominees include Ray Davies of The Kinks, Linda Perry of 4 Non Blondes, Donovan, Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart, Vince Gill, Cat Stevens, Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards of Chic and Harry Wayne Casey of KC and the Sunshine Band.

The hall’s voting members will decide by Dec. 16 who will make it.
